Lake Ziros is located near Filippiada, in the Regional Unit of Preveza, and is one of the most important natural attractions of Epirus. It is a natural lake of unique beauty, spread out in a lush landscape of forests, rocks and gentle hills. Geologists estimate that the lake was formed about 10,000 years ago, when the roof of a huge underground cave collapsed, creating the current water basin. With a length of about 900 meters, a width of 600 meters and a depth of up to 70 meters, Lake Ziros is one of the deepest natural lakes in Greece. Its clear waters, the lakeside forest and the rich biodiversity create a unique ecosystem, which is home to many species of plants and animals. Today, the area is a favorite destination for visitors seeking tranquility and contact with nature. There are hiking and cycling trails around the lake, while visitors can enjoy activities such as canoeing, bird watching and photographing the natural landscape.
