Good to know

Pantokrator Castle is an imposing seaside fortress that dominates the entrance to the Amvrakikos Gulf and is one of the three historic castles of Preveza. It was built by Ali Pasha in the early 19th century with the aim of controlling navigation and protecting the area, thanks to its strategic location on the sea. With its impressive walls, pentagonal shape and large inner courtyard, the castle is an excellent example of military architecture of the era. Over the years, it was used as a fortress and as a prison, while today it is one of the most important historical and cultural sites of Preveza. A walk along its walls and grounds offers unique views of the Ionian Sea and the Amvrakikos Gulf, combining history, architecture and natural beauty in one of the most unique sights of Epirus.
